Gaze Control in a Multiple-Task Active-Vision System

چکیده
Very little attention has been devoted to the problem of modular composition of vision capabilities in perception-action systems. While new algorithms and techniques have paved the way for important developments, the majority of vision systems are still designed and integrated in a very primitive way according to modern software engineering principles. This paper describes the architecture of an active vision system that has been conceived to ease the concurrent utilization of the system by several visual tasks. We describe in detail the functional architecture of the system and provide several solutions to the problem of sharing the visual attention when several visual tasks need to be interleaved. The system’s design hides this complexity to client processes that can be designed as if they were exclusive users of the visual system. Some preliminary results on a real robotic platform are also provided.

Atypical Gaze Behavior in Children with High Functioning Autism During an Active Balance Task
Background. Unusual gaze behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) was reported very early in the literature. Objectives. The current study examined gaze behavior in children with ASD and typically developing (TD) children while performing an active balance task on the Wii balance board. Methods: 8 children (male) diagnosed with high-functioning ASD and 9 TD children (3 female, ...

–This article presents various aspects of a gaze control scheme for visually guided humanoid robot navigation. The strategy is based on the maximization of the predicted visual information. For the information management a coupled hybrid Extended Kalman Filter is employed. Specific view direction control strategies for two concurrent objectives of different nature, obstacle avoidance and self-l...

متن کاملThe Metaphor of Vision and the Construction of Sexist-Norms in Western Metaphysics
Current feminisms have emphasized the systematic nature of women’s oppression. Feminist scholars like Luce Irigaray insist that woman’s difference and otherness is a matter of male-dominated institutional definition: because the woman is theoretically subordinated to the concept of masculinity, she is seen and objectified by the man as his opposite, described as an absence, a lack, and, most no...
